Pulse Staffing has a contract, remote position available with a top hospital system for an experienced Trauma Registrar. The candidate must be local to the Houston area to be placed under consideration. Position is immediate start.


POSITION SUMMARY


Responsible for entering data into the registry system as well as assisting with the collection and coordination of initial data under the supervision of the Director of Trauma. The Trauma Registrar evidences accuracy and confidentiality in the handling of all trauma registry matters, and is concerned with the improvement of Trauma Services within the facility.


ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


  1. Identifies all reportable cases for inclusion in the registry from the ED patient log. Maintains Trauma Registry Log. Case finding meets 97% completeness as required by the Trauma Registry.

  2. Abstracts data from the patient s chart including demographic characteristics, history of injuries, and modalities according to established guidelines/reviews.

  3. Demonstrates ability to calculate Glasgow Coma score and Injury Severity score.

  4. Communicate issues and questions for follow up and resolution in effective manner.

  5. Communicates with medical records staff when coding questions arise.

  6. Reviews charts of all possible candidates and selects qualifying patients bases on current American College of Surgeons criteria.

  7. Compiles demographic and medical information on qualifying candidates for entry into the registry.

  8. Accurately prepares statistical reports for the Multidisciplinary Trauma Committee meetings.

  9. Reviews emergency log, EMS reports, and autopsy reports to generate a listing of trauma registry candidates.

  10. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned. Performance will be evaluated in terms of: a) level of participation; b) completion by due date; c) adherence to instructions; d) accuracy.

  11. Participates in Emergency Preparedness.

  12. Interacts with physicians, patients, employees and visitors in a friendly and cordial manner in accordance with the standards as set forth in the Medical Center Trauma Services Program.

  13. Employee reflects client values and sensitivity to client ethics and compliance principles in his/her daily activities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABLITIES:

Proficiency in the use of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel,).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. High School diploma/GED

  2. Certified Specialist Trauma Registrar (CTRS) preferred.

  3. Minimum three years experience with computer data entry and/or word processing software applications.

  4. Experience using: TraumaBase, Meditech, HPF (McKesson Horizon Patient Folder) programs.
  5. Must have 1-2 years of recent trauma registry experience
