 RN Registered Nurse – Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT)

We are seeking an experienced Bone Marrow Transplant Registered Nurse to join our team and take advantage of local or travel contract in the Houston, Texas.

Specific qualifications for this RN nursing role include:

  • Must be skilled in care for acutely or critically ill, and post bone marrow transplant patients.
  • Recording full medical histories of patients and donors
  • Ordering lab tests to ensure organ matches
  • Clearing and prepping patients and donors for surgery
  • Monitoring patients vital signs after surgery

RN Registered Nurse Bone Marrow Transplant

 (BMT Nursing / Travel Nurse / Healthcare / Medical Staffing / Professional Services)

 

Duties

Provide age-appropriate care for patients from Neonate to Adult, considering development age in approach to and preparation of child; implement safety measures that are appropriate to developmental age; utilize age-appropriate equipment and supplies.

Assess patients with input from patient and/or their family in an organized and systematic manner; collect and analyze data from the medical record in order to coordinate patient care; analyze situations, anticipate potential problems, and detect/address changes in patient status.

Develop, implement and evaluate individualized plans of care, involving patient/family in the plans of care; reprioritize/update plans of care based on changes in patient conditions, communicate to other healthcare team members, and document in the medical record; participate in interdisciplinary rounds and/or patient care conferences.

Execute therapeutic physician- or nurse-initiated interventions according to established standards of practice and appropriate policies and procedures related to care delivery; demonstrate mastery of generic and job-specific competencies.

Assess patient/family learning needs, capabilities, preferences and readiness to learn prior to teaching; identify actual/potential barriers to learning (emotional, physical, cognitive, etc.) and utilize teaching strategies and materials as appropriate to the learning ability of the patient/family; formulate, implement and document individualized teaching plan based on assessment; evaluate effectiveness and modify teach plan accordingly

Demonstrate commitment to team, flexibility, professional interpersonal, communication, critical thinking, and customer service skills; serve as a patient/family advocate while caring for patients and collaborating with other healthcare team members

Demonstrate ability to problem solve, identify appropriate resources, adapt to ongoing change, and handle conflict management with a professional and supportive attitude; maintain confidentiality of patient information

Utilize patient supplies and equipment in a cost-effective manner; administer and document medications and treatments in a timely manner

Maintain professional development of self and participates in development of others; acquire new knowledge and skills needed to improve individual, team and organizational performance

 

RN Registered Nurse – Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Requirements:

 -             Valid Texas License

-              BLS from American Heart Association

-              2-year of BMT or Hematology/Oncology exp preferably in Pedi or ICU

-              BMT cert preferred

-              Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) credential is recommended and may be required for specific positions

-              BSN preferred
