RN Registered Nurse – Pre-Operative

Job Requirements

We are looking for Pre-Op Registered Nurses (PACU) who combine a true passion for providing the best pre-Operative nursing care, with a demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation and compliance with nursing care and policies and procedures. In addition, you should be team-oriented and compassionate professional committed to always providing exceptional service. It is also important that you are highly organized and that you demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work well with a diverse population.

Pre-operative Duties

• Manage patients’ admission processes to preoperative department in a hospital
• Assess the status of patients’ health in pre-op and ensure accuracy of identification wristband
• Ensure that operative and informed consents are in order
• Determine the surgeon and procedure being carried out
• Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure
• Initiate IVs and ensure that patients are informed about the procedure and attending medical staff
• Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for assigned patients.
• Responsible for meeting the Standards of Practice and managing all assigned personnel, supplies, and equipment.
• Participates in activities to plan, measure, assess, and improve the quality of patient care.
• Cares for and manages the surgical patient in the post-anesthesia period.
• Cares for and manages the respiratory status of the post-anesthesia patient.
• Cares for and manages the circulatory function of the post-anesthesia patient.
• Cares for and manages the physical and emotional comfort of the post-anesthesia patient.
• Cares for and manages the surgical site and skin integrity.
• Monitors and maintains intravenous lines and all drainage devices in the immediate post-anesthesia period.
• Assumes the responsibility of charging the department, as needed.

Specific qualifications for this Pre-Op nursing role include:

• Minimum 1 year of Pre-Op experience
• Current and valid BLS certification
• ACLS certification
• Ability to work in a fast paced, high-risk environment

• Must meet Pulse Staffing’s hiring criteria

• Travel experience, a plus
