Position Summary:
Pulse Staffing is looking for an experienced phlebotomist who has a passion for patient care to join our team in Houston. We are looking for someone who is personable, professional and self-motivated. Candidate must have 2+ years of previous experience. We are looking for individuals who have the ability to work independently.
Job Description.
Collects, registers, and processes patient laboratory specimens using a variety of collection techniques, protocols, and computer systems. Follows rigorous patient identification protocols for all ages and complexity of patients.
May utilize standard venipuncture techniques to collect appropriate blood specimens by adhering to correct collection and transport protocol including positive patient identification.
Phlebotomist duties and responsibilities
Perform venipuncture on patients of all ages.
Preparing patients before drawing blood
Collect/prepare non-blood specimens.
Explaining blood draw procedures to patients and answering any questions about the process
Champion safety, compliance, and quality control.
Collect/prepare non-blood specimens.
Ensure proper specimen processing, labeling, and test ordering.
Following all health and safety protocols and procedures to maintain sanitary work areas.
Gathering medical testing materials, including needles, sample vials, blood storage bags and test tubes
Verifying patient information and labeling blood samples properly
Accurately updating patient information in the organization’s database
Requirements:
2+ years of laboratory training or experience in specimen collection and processing
Advanced written and verbal communication skills
Reliable Transportation
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent motor skills and the ability to stand for long periods of time.
Data entry and computer skills
High School Diploma or equivalent
Strong attention to detail
Ability to communicate effectively with patients and other employees.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT USED:
Standard office equipment, including desktop computers. Phlebotomy equipment including needles and vacutainers. Basic laboratory equipment such as centrifuges.

· 8a-5p
· 8:30a-4:30p
· 8-1p
· No nights or weekends
*Hours and length of assignments vary depending on the site
Job Requirements
- 2 +years' experience working in a hospital or clinical setting preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a phlebotomy training program or certification
- Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory techniques
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in specimen collection and labeling
- Excellent communication skills and ability to provide compassionate patient care
- Familiarity with vital signs measurement and basic laboratory procedures
