Pulse Staffing is searching for a Pharmacy Technician/Patient Care Specialist who is interested in working a temp to permanent assignment in Southwest Houston. This is a Mon-Fri 8a-5p opportunity.

Under general direction, the Patient Care Specialist is responsible for providing integrated support to patients by using a hands-on approach to total quality patient care. This includes resolving problems, identifying trends, recommending improvements and implementing change. The Patient Care Specialist is responsible for handling inbound and outbound calls, including the processing and upkeep of pharmacy orders, handling order inquiries/issues, electronic and manual billing procedures, prior authorization process, and providing outstanding customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the contact person for the patients within designated region

Serve as a liaison between patients and staff and build rapport with both

Monitor delivery queues for assigned region and work closely with the Patient Care Lead to prioritize and initiate urgent or time sensitive prior authorization cases

Answer inbound phone calls in a courteous and professional manner

Call patient and explain/offer copay assistance for high copay patients

Work collaboratively with other departments to improve reimbursement process end results

Identify issues and provide recommendations to management team for improvements in productivity, quality and customer service standards or deliverables

Drive operational improvements throughout the assigned geographical region

Maintain knowledge of pharmacy and government rules and comply at all times

Escalate drug related calls to appropriate pharmacist

Maintain, report, and analyze patient data as requested by management team

Assist with day to day planning and goal implementation

Handling complaints/suggestions from health care provider offices or patients regarding customer service

Contacting patients, pharmacists and doctors offices to resolve claims issues

Resolving customer issues and ensuring that accurate information is provided

Meeting established productivity, schedule adherence and quality standards while maintaining a good attendance record

Performing patient benefits investigation (prior authorizations)

Qualifications

High School Diploma required

College degree preferred

Certified Pharmacy Technician preferred

If not registered, must register as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee and complete licensing requirements in the time allotted by the state board

Two years of customer service experience in specialty pharmacy

Knowledge of high cost medications requiring special handling

Prior authorization experience required

Claims processing or prior customer service experience
