Job Title: Patient Access Representative II
Job Summary:
The Patient Access Representative II is responsible for providing exceptional service to patients and healthcare providers by facilitating the registration, scheduling, and insurance verification processes. This position ensures patients are properly registered, informed, and directed to the appropriate departments for their medical needs. The role requires a strong understanding of healthcare policies, patient confidentiality, and insurance processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Registration and Scheduling:
Register patients accurately in the system, ensuring all personal, demographic, and insurance information is correct.
Schedule patient appointments and procedures, ensuring appropriate medical and insurance data is collected.
Verify insurance eligibility and benefits prior to appointments or services.
Assist patients with completing necessary forms and provide them with necessary instructions for appointments.
Insurance Verification and Authorization:
Verify insurance coverage and benefits for patients, ensuring accurate information for billing purposes.
Work with insurance companies to obtain authorizations or referrals for services as needed.
Provide information to patients regarding their insurance coverage, co-pays, and deductibles.
Patient Communication and Support:
Answer patient inquiries regarding services, insurance, scheduling, and billing.
Educate patients on their rights and responsibilities regarding their healthcare.
Coordinate with other departments to ensure the efficient handling of patient requests.
Compliance and Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of all patient interactions and updates in compliance with HIPAA and healthcare regulations.
Ensure proper documentation of patient information in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
Follow internal procedures for resolving any discrepancies or issues with insurance or patient information.
Customer Service:
Provide outstanding customer service to patients and visitors, addressing their concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Assist in handling difficult situations, ensuring patients' concerns are resolved appropriately.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with other Patient Access Representatives, healthcare providers, and administrative staff to ensure seamless patient flow.
Assist with training or mentoring new staff as needed
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: 2-3 years of experience in a patient access, front desk, or similar healthcare role. Experience in insurance verification, registration, and scheduling preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) and patient management systems.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality regulations.

M-F 8am-5pm
