Home Health Aide

Position Summary:

The Home Health Aide (HHA) provides personal care and support services to residents in an assisted living facility. The HHA assists residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), promotes resident comfort and safety, and helps maintain a clean, positive, and caring environment while following facility policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Personal Care
    • Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene.
    • Help residents with toileting and incontinence care.
    • Assist with mobility, transfers, ambulation, and positioning.
    • Support residents with eating and hydration as needed.
  • Resident Support
    • Provide companionship and emotional support.
    • Encourage resident independence while providing appropriate assistance.
    • Observe and report changes in residents' physical, mental, or emotional condition to the nurse or supervisor.
    • Assist residents in participating in activities and social events.
  • Safety and Infection Control
    • Maintain a safe and clean environment for residents.
    • Follow infection control and safety procedures.
    • Respond appropriately to emergencies and resident needs.
    • Ensure resident rights, privacy, and dignity are respected at all times.
  • Documentation
    • Accurately document care provided according to facility policies.
    • Report incidents, accidents, or unusual observations promptly.
    • Communicate effectively with nurses, caregivers, family members, and other healthcare team members.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Make beds and maintain resident rooms.
    • Assist with light housekeeping related to resident care.
    • Attend staff meetings and required training sessions.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Current Home Health Aide certification (if required by state regulations).
  • Current CPR/BLS certification preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English; bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Ability to lift, transfer, and assist residents safely.
  • Compassionate, dependable, and patient-centered approach to care.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to assist residents with transfers and mobility.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Schedule:

Full-Time, Part-Time, PRN, and Weekend shifts available. Day, Evening, and Night shifts may be required.
