Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory team. In this vital role, you will provide expert nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures, ensuring safety, comfort, and optimal outcomes. Duties

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients before, during, and after cardiac catheterization procedures, including angiograms, stent placements, and electrophysiology studies.
  • Monitor patient vital signs continuously using advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic and Cerner, ensuring accurate documentation of all clinical data.
  • Assist physicians with invasive procedures by preparing sterile equipment, maintaining aseptic technique, and managing catheter care.
  • Administer medications including IV infusions, sedation, and Botulinum toxin treatments for specific conditions such as ophthalmology or neurological disorders.
  • Conduct patient assessments focusing on physiology knowledge, anatomy understanding, and medical terminology to identify changes in patient status promptly.
  • Support infection control protocols and sterile processing standards during all procedures to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Educate patients on post-procedure care plans, including wound management like suturing and ostomy care when applicable.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across hospital medicine, critical care units like ICU or PICU, and outpatient services to ensure seamless patient transitions.

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Valid RN license with current state registration; BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) preferred.
  • Proven experience in cardiac catheterization labs or interventional radiology settings; Level I or II trauma center experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with ICD-10/ICD-9 coding is beneficial.
  • Experience with medical imaging techniques including sonography or CT scans is advantageous.
  • Skilled in IV insertion, venipuncture, medication administration, and aseptic technique; proficiency in suturing and tube feeding is a plus.
  • Background in acute care environments such as hospital medicine or emergency medicine; critical care experience enhances your candidacy.
  • Ability to work with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health patients, and those with developmental disabilities or memory care needs.
  • Excellent patient assessment skills combined with a compassionate approach to pain management and hospice & palliative medicine support.
