Job Requirements

 

We are searching for a skilled and dependable MRI technologist to join our medical team. The MRI technologist will be responsible for operating MRI equipment and creating scans as per the physicians' directions, screening patients and explaining procedures to them, and inspecting and troubleshooting equipment. You should be able to collaborate with other healthcare professionals and also train junior MRI technologists.

To be successful as an MRI technologist, you should have sound knowledge of human anatomy and MRI safety procedures. Outstanding MRI technologists will be highly analytical and able to explain complex information clearly.

 

A magnetic resonance imaging may be used to help diagnose disease, plan treatment, or find out how well treatment works. MRI technologists operate magnetic resonance imaging machines in the healthcare sector. They create diagnostic images of patients according to their physicians’ instructions, take patients' histories, prepare them for scans, and keep them calm and comfortable during the process. Also called MRI scan, magnetic resonance imaging scan, and MRI scan.

MRI Technologist / Technician Duties:

  • Analyzing patient histories and completing screenings for pacemakers and injuries where metal objects were involved.
  • Preparing and administering contrast dyes.
  • Addressing patients’ concerns and ensuring that they are comfortable and calm during scans.
  • Performing regular inspections of the MRI equipment and machines, and scheduling maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Positioning the patients and completing MRI scans according to the physicians' specifications.
  • Ensuring that the MRI rooms are kept clean, tidy, and safe at all times.
  • Explaining the MRI process to patients and ensuring the patients comply with all safety standards.
  • Positioning, and possibly sedating, patients to capture clear images of the correct area of the body.
  • Removing and then replacing IVs and catheters for the MRI process.
  • Maneuvering the MRI equipment and positioning it to capture the correct images.
  • Monitoring patients during scanning and maintaining patients' records.
  • Monitoring MRI equipment functions.
  • Ensuring clear images for Physicians to provide accurate diagnoses.
  • Recognizing abnormalities and irregularities in images.
  • Carrying out quality assurance procedures and implementing improvements as required.
  • Efficient time management skills with ability to anticipate workflow and perform synchronous tasks.
  • Effective Team Player
  • Detail oriented with exceptional interpersonal communication skills.

 

 

Specific qualifications for this MRI Tech role include:

 

  • Graduate of an accredited program in Radiology Technology.
  • Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiology Technology Program with MRI certification.
  • Current Texas MRT License in good standing
  • Current BLS required, ACLS a plus all through the American Heart Association
  • 1-2 years of Radiology and MRI experience, preferably in urgent care and/or emergency medicine
  • Knowledge of specific and OSHA requirements regarding radiological procedures.
  • Ability to work with patients of all ages.
  • Clinical experience performing MRI scanning is documented without constant supervision.
  • Ability to assist with specialized procedures involving sterile techniques.
  • The ability to perform intravenous placement as ordered by physician is preferred.
  • Continuing education hours are required to keep up license renewal according to state specific guidelines.
  • Pass background check(s)
  • Ability to accurately read and write medical terminology.
  • Ability to work all shifts including day, evening, weekends, and holiday hours as needed.
  • Basic typing and computer proficiency, preferably experienced with Windows, Microsoft Office, EMR/EPM systems, etc.
  • Must meet Pulse Staffing’s hiring criteria.
  • Travel experience, a plus
