Job Title: Patient Access Representative

Job Summary:
The Patient Access Representative is the first point of contact with patients entering the facility. The Patient Access Representative will courteously and professionally greet patients and obtain accurate demographic and insurance information for registration.

Job Responsibilities and Duties
  • Demonstrates ability to effectively communicate (written and oral) with individuals and groups of various backgrounds and educational levels in a high stress environment
  • Demonstrates ability to manage multiple, changing priorities in an effective and organized manner, under stressful demands while maintaining exceptional customer service
  • Reviews and processes patient registration forms and ensuring they contain all necessary documents
  • Maintain consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant health & safety procedures
  • Follows and maintains current knowledge of company, clients, and department policies and
    procedures
  • All members of the team are responsible for ensuring the facility is cleaned and well maintained
  • Ability to flex schedule to meet the department needs to include longer scheduled shifts and may include night, weekend and holiday coverage
  • Testing blood and urine specimens; keeping records of results and reporting results;
    performing calibrations and control tests on equipment, performing maintenance on
    equipment. Assists with maintenance of CLIA certification
  • Demonstrates accuracy for all testing performed.
  • Observes patient safety, risk management and infection control policies and procedures.
  • Performs related quality control and required proficiency testing according to policy and procedure.
  • Identifies and assists with opportunities for performance improvement activities in the laboratory.
  • Maintains laboratory in accordance within requirements of CLIA.
  • Operates laboratory equipment as indicated and required per manufactures.
  • Working understanding of operations for all laboratory equipment.
  • Uses proper PPE as required by facility.

Shifts:
7a-7p or 7p-7a. 3 shifts per week, every other weekend. Rotating schedule.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of two years of face to face customer service experience in a healthcare environment is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; some college is preferred
  • Current BLS for the Healthcare Provider - Must have a current card from an American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Experience providing customer service to patients and their families is preferred
  • Experience working in an Emergency Department is preferred
  • Experience working with patient records and charts is preferred
  • Understanding of insurance plans is preferred
