Job Requirements

 

We are looking for NICU Registered Nurses who combine a true passion for providing the best Neonatal Intensive Care Unit nursing care, with a demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation and compliance with nursing care and policies and procedures. In addition, you should be team-oriented and compassionate professional committed to always providing exceptional service. It is also important that you are highly organized and that you demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work well with a diverse population.

 

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nurse, also known as a neonatal nurse, is responsible for the care and treatment of newborn infants suffering from illness or prematurity, as well as caring for their parents and guardians. A NICU nurse provides round-the-clock care for the basic and medical needs of newborn infants in the NICU.

 

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Duties

  • Providing round-the-clock care to premature and severely ill newborn infants.
  • Caring for the basic needs of infants; for example, feeding and changing diapers.
  • Performing medical procedures; for example, inserting intravenous lines, performing tests, and administering medications.
  • Assisting the NICU physicians in medical procedures and treatments.
  • Using and adjusting specialized medical equipment.
  • Formulating nursing plans and evaluating the effectiveness of treatments.
  • Comforting ill newborns and anxious parents and family members.
  • Offering support to parents and family members and educating them on the at-home care of their newborn.

 

Specific qualifications for this NICU nursing role include:

 

  • Minimum 1 year of NICU experience
  • Current and valid BLS certification
  • ACLS certification
  • PALS certification
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high-risk environment
  • Must meet Pulse Staffing’s hiring criteria
  • Travel experience, a plus
